Oasis Sell Out In An Hour

added 21 August 2008 at 09.21

Gallaghers’ biggest arena tour sells out within an hour of going on sale as tickets surface almost immediately on the black market.

180,000 tickets were sold in an hour for Oasis’ biggest arena tour yesterday. Web sites experienced huge levels of demand, box office phone lines were jammed and thousands queued outside the various arenas.

"The demand for tickets this morning was just immense”, said a band spokesman. “All the ticket sites slowed down severely but nothing crashed and the system worked very smoothly. We want to thank the fans for their patience and look forward to seeing you all at the shows".

Already, tickets have surfaced on internet auction sites for close to ten times their face value. Despite calls by some MPs for a code of conduct on touting, as well as the Xfm listenership voting overwhelmingly to regulate this black market, it seems music fans – and Oasis fans in this instance – are continuing to have a raw deal.
