Noel Vs. Jay-Z: The Feud Continues...

added 08 August 2008 at 10.02

Rapper continues to snipe over those Glastonbury comments... but Noel just thinks a couple of beers and a chat will sort it out.

The feud between Jay-Z and Noel Gallagher rumbles on... Ever since the Oasis man publicly claimed that the rap superstar was "wrong" for the traditionally indie festival, Jay-Z has continued to make a few digs at the guitarist onstage. At a show at Madison Square Garden in New York earlier this week, Mr Z rapped: "That bloke from Oasis said I couldn't play guitar... Somebody should have told him I'm a fucking rock star".

But Noely himself claims that he was misquoted and, in a typically tonque-in-cheek and Beatles-loving move, directly quoted John Lennon's "bigger than Jesus" comments in an interview with the NME. "I wasn't saying I was better than Jay-Z as a person or rock was greater than hip-hop," he quipped. "I said what I said, and it was wrong, or it was taken wrong, and now all this."

Gallagher went on to say that the "furore" would all come out in the wash. "I'll have a beer with him one day and it will be fine."

What do you think? How should Jay-Z and Noel Gallagher finally lay the matter to rest? Arm wrestling? Top Trumps? A crimp-off? Leave a comment for us here.

  1. I think Noel was right, hip hop artist headling a predominately rock festival would explain slow ticket sales and seems out of sorts with the history of Glastonbury. That was all he was saying, it wasn't a personal attakc cos if it was jay Z would be at home crying to his wife and Jay Z is just milking it for the media attention because he retired and now is looking for a way to back into the spotlight, even though it makes him look like a major f@*%!ng idiot.

  3. It's all a media thing. Noel likes Jay-Z. Jay-Z likes Noel. Get a life, xfm and leave it alone.

  4. It's all a load of hogwash isn't it? I mean, I think Noel's right. Have a beer guys and let the media (the real stirrers) go find someone else to harass.
