Noel Gallagher: “Oasis Vs Blur Fight Was Pathetic”

added 08 December 2008 at 11.40

Thirteen years on, the infamous Britpop battle of ’95 has been written off as “pathetic” by the Oasis guitarist…

The date was August 14 1995, set up by the national news as ‘The Battle Of Britpop’, as Oasis’ ‘Roll With It’ fought it out with Blur's 'Country House’ to reach No. 1 in the singles chart. Blur won.

But just over thirteen years on, Noel Gallagher has informed The Guardian it was “all so pathetic over two really quite shit pop songs.”

Asked about his relations with former-Blur front man Damon Albarn today, Gallagher replied: “He's a great artist. He's different from me. I'm not an artist - for me, it just comes out. He does Chinese operas and that kind of thing, he's got more strings to his bow than I'll ever have.”

“There's always been something between me and him, and I don't know what it is.”

Has Noel G really recovered from the ‘Battle Of Britpop’, or is this all just a front to hide thirteen years of jealousy and shame? Comment below...
