New Coldplay Album: Listen Tonight From 6pm

'Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends' is the new album from Coldplay, and arrives just over three years since their last effort. Tonight from 6pm they'll be streaming the record in full from their Myspace page, and here's all you need to know about the much-anticipated release.
Tonight (June 6) from 6pm on Coldplay's Myspace page their fourth album 'Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends' will be streamed in full.
On Monday June 9 frontman Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland and bassist Guy Berryman will exclusively talk through each of the album's tracks with John Kennedy on X-posure from 10pm.
The album, released on June 12, was produced by both Brian Eno and Markus Dravs, and was recorded in Barcelona, New York and London, where the band are playing three special free gigs this month, at London's Brixton Academy on June 16, Barcelona's Espacio Movistar on June 17 and New York's Madison Square Gardens on June 23. Ticket applications for London and New York have now closed, however you can apply for Barcelona tickets here.
Earlier this year a Rolling Stone Online article featured an interview with Martin, who said: “It’s impossible to please everybody, and it took us a whole to learn that. It’s just the freedom to say, ‘Everyone might not like this. We’re into it at the moment, so let’s just get it done’.”
In the same article Martin also revealed, “I heard a Bono quote once that said ‘Bands shouldn’t break up over money, they should break up over tracklisting’.”
The band were working on that tracklisting in their own studio, The Bakery, in north London, where Buckland explained, “We felt like the first three albums were a trilogy, and we finished that. So we wanted to do something different.”
The tracklisting:
- 'Life In Technicolor'
- 'Cemeteries Of London'
- 'Lost!'
- '42'
- 'Lovers In Japan/Reign Of Love'
- 'Yes'
- 'Viva La Vida'
- 'Violet Hill'
- 'Strawberry Swing'
- 'Death And All His Friends'
The title, 'Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends', was inspired by a painting by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, 'Viva la Vida' meaning 'long live life'.
The album artwork features the classic painting 'Liberty Leading The People' by French painter Eugene Delacroix commemorating the July Revolution of 1830, currently displayed in The Louvre in Paris.
Coldplay begin their 'Viva la Vida' world tour on June 29 at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, where they finished the 'Twisted Logic' tour of the US in 2006, before they return to the UK in December.
