Metal Hammer Award Nominations Announced

Get ready for one of the world's biggest rock knees-up as the nominations for the sixth annual Golden Gods ceremony are revealed, with Gallows, Slipknot and Nine Inch Nails all up for awards.

This year’s Golden Gods Metal Hammer Awards will take place on June 16 at London’s 02 complex and will be watched by an audience spattered with some of the biggest names in rock.

There will also be a second stage aboard Thames' vessel, the Dixie Queen, featuring live performances from - among others - rising metal talent Bring Me The Horizon and Job For A Cowboy.

Leading the nominations are Slipknot, Gallows and Nine Inch Nails battling it out to take home the 'Inspiration Award'.

Frank Carter and his boys Gallows have been nominated for the 'Best Live Band' gong up against a might clash of titans Machine Head, Megadeth, Turasis and the female fronted Swedes Arch Enemy.

Heavyweight Slash currently holds the crown for 'Riff Lord' and he's been nominated again this year.  The question is, can any of the other contenders - (ex-Kiss) aceman Ace Frehley, Megadeth’s Dave Musaine, Opeth’s Mikael Akerfeldt and Iced Earth’s Jon Shaffer - bring him down from this pedestal.
