Led Zeppelin Tour Back On?

added 19 March 2008 at 13.09

It's been fairly quiet on the Led Zeppelin rumour front for the last few weeks so let's hear it for Velvet Revolver bassist Duff McKagan who's just re-activated it with claims that his band are set to support the rock titans.

Speaking with the BBC, McLagan claimed that Velvet Revolver have snapped up the coveted job of opening for Led Zeppelin if and when they decide to tour.

Unsurprisingly, the bassist wouldn't be drawn on specific dates but said: “I understand that we have it, although I imagine there will be plenty of bands prepared to kick and punch us out of the way for the privilege.”

Lining up to take the first swing will undoubtedly be The Cult's lead singer Ian Astbury who, during a concert in Canada last year, claimed that his band had bagged the support slot.

Whether there will be a support slot or not on any mooted Led Zeppelin tour remains to be seen, not least because Percy and co's epic sets during their 70s heyday negated the use of a support band.
