Kings Of Leon Top Singles Chart

Plus, did Glasvegas have the Number 1 album? And there's some good news for Elbow...

Kings Of Leon have got their first ever UK Number 1 single. 'Sex On Fire' went straight to the top of the charts yesterday (September 14), knocking Katy Perry from the premier spot. "This record is doing the best that any of our other records have done so far,"Nathan Followill told Xfm. So I guess we will just have to sit back and enjoy the fruits of our labour." The band's new album 'Only By The Night' is released next Monday (September 22).

At the same time, Metallica beat Glasvegas to the top of the album charts with their latest thrash-a-thon, 'Death Magentic', even after bookies reckoned the Scottish newcomers were in with a chance of making Number 1. "I was surprised at how many it was selling," Glasvegas singer James Allan told the NME. "But I knew Metallica were going to bring out an album in the same week. They're enormous. They're the biggest metal band in the world."

In other chart news, Elbow's 'The Seldom Seen Kid' is back in the album charts at Number 7, following the band's victory at the Nationwide Mercury Music Prize last week.
