Johnny Borrell And Jon McClure End Fued

added 04 June 2008 at 11.07

The Razorlight and Reverend & The Makers frontmen ended their fued as they buried the hatchet - though not in each other's heads as was expected - at last night's charity gig in aid of The Big Ask at the Science Museum.

The pair buried the hatchet last night as they joined Friends of the Earth in calling on the government to include aviation emissions in the new climate change law. The pair performed an intimate one-off gig in the aviation room at London's Science Museum to mark the final part of the Big Ask.

Straight-talking Jon McClure, who played the first set of the night, last year compared Johnny Borrell to Adolf Hitler but the two singers put their differences aside to concentrate on bigger issues.

Performing in front of private jet, McClure sang a number of politcally-charegd songs including 'Politicks On Pogo Sticks' and 'The Hidden Persuaders'.

Razorlight performed a five-song set that included 'America', 'Fall To Pieces' and 'Vice'. Speaking of the event, Borrell said: "If you have the courage to sing in front of people, you should have the courage to speak out about what you believe in."

The gig also featured a number of singing politicians calling themselves The Aviators. Featuring Lib-Dem MP and Cheeky Girl squeeze Lembit Opik, The Aviators did to John Denver's 'Leavin' On A Jet Plane' what jet planes do to the environment. Still, it's the thought that counts as well as asking the Big Ask.

  1. It's that Andy Burrows whos the irritating one out of Razorlight, not Borrell who has obvious songwriting talent (In the Morning, Golden Touch, countless other songs). Sorry but Burrows is guilty of importing all kinds of 'soft mainstream' taste in to that band - the Police, Michael Jackson. They were way cooler b4. Pity he has his own agenda too - has knocked Borrell in the past (to make himself seem more appealing you get the impression).

  2. Well Jon Mclure must be an eejit comparing someone like Borrell to Adolf Hitler - don't think I've heard of a more naff comparison, sort of at the level of a 14-year-old's brain processes. Er, in exactly what respect is an indie musician not known for anything more than a big mouth/ego and songwriting skills, like the instigator of a world war and the execution of all those Jews?! Please, small child, get thee back to your detention lesson where you belong.
