The Ivor Novello Awards 2008 have been announced and have crowned Radiohead's 'In Rainbows' with the Album Award whilst Kaiser Chiefs miss out to Take That...

The 53rd Ivor Novello's 2008 have been awarded and we've got the results from Xfm's Lliana Bird.

Taking place at London's Grosvenor Hotel - with stars including Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson, Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin), Guy Garvey (Elbow) and David Gilmour (Pink Floyd) all in attendance - the prestigous awards celebrated the best British songwriting and composing talent.

Radiohead won the Album Award for 'In Rainbows', the album of which the buyer named the price, which was won last year by the Arctic Monkeys with 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not'.

The Kaiser Chiefs' 'Ruby' missed out to Take That's 'Shine' for the Most Performed Work, which was previously won by the Scissor Sisters and their song 'I Don't Feel Like Dancin''.

Cherry Ghost beat Kate Nash and Klaxons to the award for Best Contemporary Song with 'People Help The People', while Amy Winehouse was awarded Best Song Musically and Lyrically with 'Love Is A Losing Game'.

Winehouse once again caused a stir when her father Mitch picked up the award on behalf of his daughter just minutes before she joined him on his table, but she assured us she was looking forward to her Glastonbury slot.
