"I've No Idea How I Wrote Yesterday," Says Paul McCartney

Macca admits writing one of his biggest songs was an “entirely magical” experience. The Beatle also spills the beans on his favourite Lennon tracks.
Sir Paul McCartney stopped by at Xfm in London yesterday to chat with Dave Berry. During the pair’s conversation, the former Beatle revealed that he had a number of favourite Beatles songs, but choosing one was “almost impossible”.
“One of mine? If I had to answer one song it would have to be ‘Yesterday’ because it came to me in a dream and because 3000 people are supposed to have recorded it. That was entirely magical – I have no idea how I wrote that. I just woke up one morning and it was in my head. I didn’t believe it for about two weeks”.
Choosing his favourites by the other band members, he said, was a far easier task.
“I can isolate my favourite John tracks. There’s too many, but I’d go with a ‘Day In The Life’, ‘Strawberry Fields’ and ‘Julia’. I could keep going...”
