GN’R Slam Dr Pepper For Exploiting "Legendary Reputation"

The band’s lawyer has accused the fizzy pop chain of failing to stand by its ‘Chinese Democracy’ free drinks promotion…
As revealed earlier this year, Dr Pepper would offer every American a free can of their beverage if Guns N’ Roses got round to releasing ‘Chinese Democracy’ this year.
Those who signed up to the offer on the company's website had 24 hours to claim their drink, in conjunction with the album’s US launch last Sunday (November 25).
However, GN’R lawyer Alan Gutman has since penned a letter to the Dr Pepper CEO Larry Young, labelling the promotion an “unmitigated disaster” after customers were unable to log on to the site, report Gigwise.
Gutman asked Dr Pepper not only to extend the offer but to also print full page apologies in newspapers USA Today, New York Times, LA Times and the Wall Street Journal.
Though band leader Axl Rose stated he was “surprised and very happy to have the support of Dr Pepper” following the unveiling of the offer back in March, Gutman added he felt the offer exploited the band’s “legendary reputation” and are now seeking “appropriate payment… for the unauthorized use and abuse of their publicity and intellectual property rights.”
Dr Pepper responded to the LA Times: "This was one of the largest responses we have ever received for a giveaway, and we’re happy we were able to satisfy the thirst of so many Dr Pepper fans.”
Those unable to sign up for their free drink will have to wait 4-6 weeks before a coupon arrives in the post.
