Glastonbury Headliner Poll Results In

added 04 July 2008 at 12.15

We asked you, dear Xfm listeners, to let us know what you thought about last weekend's Glastonbury headliners. So who was your favourite headliner? Was it right for Jay-z to be there? e asked the question but you had the answer.

Unsurprisingly, 47% of you thought that Kings Of Leon were the best Pyramid Stage headliner, followed by The Verve with 37% of the poll while 16% cast their vote for Jay-Z's storming Saturday night set.

Jay-Z's slot caused controversy way before a beat was dropped. Back in February when Xfm exclusively revealed Jay-Z's prestigious headliner, the kind of uproar caused by festival-goers suggested that the reincarnation of Saddam Hussein had been booked for the Pyramid Stage rather than one of the world's top-selling artist.

However, having seen what the rapper can do, 33% of you decided that Jay-Z absolutely rinsed it with the best set ever. 25% decided that it was pretty decent while the naysayers made up 23%. A further 18% decided that, while he was good, he wasn't right for Glastonbury.

You can relive Glastonbury 2008 in our totally wonderful festival guide which is packed with more videos, artist interviews, photos and Glasto-related stuff than you could shake a muddy welly at. It might also help jog a few memories too.

  1. Basically had a F*****g amazing week/wend. Pitched up Wednesday night and started by getting wasted in our trailer tent, like ya do.... Then on Thursday me and my fellow space caddets Went for a wonder around the festival to check out the madness that was about to accur, got rained on so went back to camp for a sort of early night ( 4.00 am ) to av it on Friday. Got down to the arenas and stumbled around till the Enemy at the Other stage, 'herbal me up baby Lol camann'. For me they rocked the f*****g place. Then stumbled to the Park stage for a 'SOBER' Pete Doherty who's accoustic set was flipping ace. Gutted I missed the Kings, Ting Tings and MGMT and others that I was looking forward to see .Then the Saturday day was prettymuch the same but now in galaxy Glasto completely,( if you know what I means) Now Jay-Z is not really my thing but my gosh put me and many others who doubted him on our arse, 'man what a show', fair play to him he smashed it good and propper. But sadley had to cut his set short to scoot or shall I say an disorientated march over to CSS to catch the last of there awsome set at the Park stage again 'mind blowing'. But I did manage to see the Raconteurs, Mrs Winehouse but again in our messy state missed the Courteneers, Martha Wainwright the Pigeon Detectives and the Last Shadow Puppets,' Gutted, gutted gutted, But 'OH YES' had it right off at Trash City on the drums. Then Sunday I had a Quiet word with myself at camp and then flew straight to Shangri-La to sit on a double bed ( god known). Missed The Dirty Pretty Things ( that I wasn't), big thanks to Glasto Nav though... Definatly the way forwardingtons. Then of to the Pyramid for the mighty Verve who sent tingles down my spine with the croud singing the Drugs Dont Work, Lucky Man, Bitter Sweet Symphony and ending with ther new single, love something 'but it F*****g rocked the place'. So Michael Bring on Glasto 09, you are my saviour.... 'Peace to the world' !!!! X
