Fratellis (Also) Slate Glastonbury Headliners

The Fratellis are the latest act to become embroiled in the minor controversy that is the Glastonbury line-up - despite being fairly high up on the bill themselves.

Following Noel Gallagher’s claim that "I’m not having hip hop at Glastonbury – that’s wrong", Barry Fratelli has rubbished the three main headliners, namely Jay-Z, Kings Of Leon and The Verve. "[That’s] not to say I think we should be headlining," he told The Daily Star, "But I don't think the headline acts this year are too good to be honest. I love Kings Of Leon, but I just don't think they should be headlining." He added that The Verve would "go down a storm", but that "it's crazy they're back to this level already - maybe next year they'll come back and they'll be headlining."

The bass player’s comments come despite the fact that The Fratellis are due to play the Pyramid Stage on Friday night immediately before… headliners Kings Of Leon. He wasn’t too complimentary about last year’s Glasto either. "We built it up as this big thing and it was shite,” he grumbled. “The only thing that saved our weekend was that I got to see The Who from the side of the stage".
