Flight Of The Conchords To Release Debut Album

added 26 March 2008 at 17.33

Grammy-winning comedy sensations Flight Of The Concords - that's Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement to their mums - are set release their self-titled debut album on Warner Bros. Records/Sub Pop on May 12.

As evidenced by the amount of people on the Xfm newsdesk who swear by this show, Flight of the Conchords has become one of the biggest TV cult hits of recent years.

Why? Because we love its combination of sharp musical parodies and their wry comic take on the music industry, that's why.

The album features 14 fully-realised versions of favourite songs from the TV show including ‘Business Time’, ‘Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros’, ‘Think About It’ and ‘The Most Beautiful Girl (In The Room)’.

The set also delivers cleverly crafted pastiches of the Pet Shop Boys (‘Inner City Pressure’), Shabba Ranks (‘Boom’) and David Bowie (‘Bowie’). All in all, a bit like the TV series but without the plot, characters and the action that usually appears between the songs.

‘Flight of the Conchords’ was recorded in Los Angeles, New York and Wellington with producer Mickey Petralia (Beck, Ladytron, Peaches).

Be sure to wear waterproof pants before listening.
