Feist Scoops The Shortlist

added 06 February 2008 at 10.03

Feist's 'The Reminder' has beaten off competition from Arcade Fire and M.I.A. to win this year's Shortlist Prize.

The Shortlist Prize is America's equivalent of The Mercury Music Prize and is open to artists whose albums had been released between January and November 2007 and have sold less than 500,000 copies.

The Canadian singer-songwriter saw off stiff challenges from the likes of LCD Soundsystem, Spoon, Wilco and the mysterious Burial. Her success follows Cat Power's triumph for 'The Greatest' at the awards 12 months ago.

'The Reminder' has now sold in excess 515,000 copies thanks largely to the inclusion of '1-2-3-4' in an Apple iPod advertising campaign.

This year's judging panel included Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody and The Killers' Ronnie Vannucci.
