Exclusive: The Subways On New "Heavy" Album

The Subways are back with new album 'All Or Nothing' and Billy Lunn told Xfm its gone full throttle into a heavier realm of rock.
Taking time out from their current UK tour the lead singer revealed that new single 'Girls And Boys' - which you can download for free here - is an ear bashing taste of what's to come:
"For us 'Girls and Boys' was a statement of intent. This record's gonna be a lot heavier.. I think we've organically turned our amps up, with songs which have this edge about them that the first album didn't." [Listen To Full Answer]
After some hurdles (to say the least!) - including nodules on his voice box and a broken rib cage from some over-zealous stage antics - Lunn underwent a risky operation which had the potential to leave him mute.
Three years on Lunn explained why they've jumped on the free download band-wagon:
"We've been away for so long and it took a lot longer to make this record, so this is a big thank you. A free download, a present to all those who've waited for us."
The Subways second single will be 'Alright' - the "most poppy track on the record' - which is approximated to reach us on June 2.
Despite the variation, the louder sound is attributed to the partnership with legendary producer Butch Vig (of Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins fame), as Lunn excitedly revealed:
"His production sounds huge anyway so I think whatever we did would be loud and American. Even the acoustic songs have a sense of movement about them."
'All Or Nothing' is expected to reach stores on June 9, just in time for you to get involved before they hit up a whole load of festivals including Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, Download and T In The Park.
