Exclusive: Primal Scream Documentary Part 5

In the final part of our world-exclusive, five-part documentary, Bobby Gillespie talks about Primal Scream's days on Creation and its lawless modus operandi.
Few artists have resolutely ploughed their own furrow as Primal Scream. They've never stood still or stagnated and have called in many musical ports on their staggering journey. They've been psychedelic baggy groovers, indie/dance fusers, electro rock commandos and country'n'western fetishists. In an age where a winning formula has sounded the death knell to an artist's creativity, Primal Scream have consistently tore-up, and then re-written their own rule book.
In the final part of our five part documentary, Bobby talks about the band’s time on Creation.
“When Creation started it was such a tiny label. I would get the sleeves printed up in Glasgow and Alan [McGee] would sit in his spare room with Joe Foster and Dick Green folding them up, putting them in bags before taking them to Rough Trade”.
Having signed My Bloody Valentine, Teenage Fanclub, Oasis and the Scream, Bobby says one thing united Alan McGee’s policy for working with new acts..
“He loved it when his bands were nuts. He loved it when he signed Noel And Liam. He told me, ‘I’ve just signed these two fucking maniacs’. He was right and they did fantastic”.
