Exclusive: Primal Scream Documentary Part 3
In the third part of a world-exclusive video documentary with Mani and Bobby Gillespie, the pair talk about collaborating with CSS' Lovefoxxx and Queens Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme.
Few artists have resolutely ploughed their own furrow as Primal Scream. They've never stood still or stagnated and have called in many musical ports on their staggering journey. They've been psychedelic baggy groovers, indie/dance fusers, electro rock commandos and country'n'western fetishists. In an age where a winning formula has sounded the death knell to an artist's creativity, Primal Scream have consistently tore-up, and then re-written their own rule book.
In the third part of our five part documentary, Bobby and Mani talk about the superstar collaborations that have shaped ninth album 'Beautiful Future'.
“We don’t choose or ask people lightly. It’s because we think they can add something to the track”, says Bobby.
On roping in CSS front-lady Lovefoxxx, Mani and Bobby confirmed they were already big fans of the Brazillian electro-poppers.
“We liked the CSS record and her voice sounds great on electronic tracks. We also liked the album we’ve seen them live a few times. She has a great energy”, said Bobby.
And on the Ginger Elvis AKA Queens Of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme…
“Josh Homme is one of the best guitarists in the world and a great guy. We’re big fans of theirs, they’re big fans of us. It was easy.”
