Exclusive: Primal Scream Documentary Part 1

added 18 July 2008 at 17.11

In a world-exclusive video documentary with Mani and Bobby Gillespie, the pair talk about the creative process behind the Scream's ninth studio album, 'Beautiful Future'.

Few artists have resolutely ploughed their own furrow as Primal Scream. They've never stood still or stagnated and have called in many musical ports on their staggering journey. They've been psychedelic baggy groovers, indie/dance fusers, electro rock commandos and country'n'western fetishists. In an age where a winning formula has sounded the death knell to an artist's creativity, Primal Scream have consistently tore-up, and then re-written their own rule book.

In the first part of our five part documentary, Bobby and Mani talk about the creative process behind 'Beautiful Future'. Tales of rock'n'roll excess are conspicuous by their absence as we get a real glimpse on the Scream Team's musical methodology.

"Nobody comes in with an acoustic guitar to this band and says 'Hey guys, this is how it's going to be'." says Bobby.  "It's a lot more organic than that".

How more organic? Watch the rest of this exclusive, eye-opening interview to find out.
