Exclusive: Howlin Rain To Work With Rick Rubin

Californian psyche-roots rockers Howlin Rain have exclusively revealed to Xfm that they're to work with legendary producer Rick Rubin on the follow up to their current album, the epic 'Magnificent Fiend'.
Currently touring the UK to promote their second album, 'Magnificent Fiend', Howlin Rain frontman Ethan Miller has told of the band's plans to work with Rick Rubin on their next album.
Singer-guitarist Miller explained: "We're probably going to record with Rick Rubin; we've talked about and a few months ago I asked, 'What should I do to get prepared?' and he said, 'Start writing so we can work with 40 songs and not just nine songs that you write before we start [recording].'"
Rubin's work as a producer is the stuff of legend. His early work with The Beastie Boys and Run D.M.C. brilliantly fused the nascent rap genre with heavy metal while his latter work saw him introduce Johnny Cash to a new audience of fans with the classic 'American' series of albums. More recently, Rubin has reignited the career of Neil Diamond with a pair of stripped-back acoustic albums.
Now the head of Columbia Records, Rubin issued Howlin Rain's 'Magnificent Fiend' under a joint agreement between on his American label and San Francisco-based indie Birdman Records.
Asked whether working with Rubin would yield an acoustic album or a full-on rock collection, Miller replied: "I think it'll probably be heavy because I don't wanna make an acoustic album and I don't think he wants to steer things in that manner.
"That'll be a change of course for us...I think that what Rick likes in us is our fire."
