Listen to a sneak preview of new track 'Tanned'
OK, ok you got us, that is just Paul Smith humming a part of the tune but hey, you get the gist right? And judging by the crowd's reaction last night its going to be a humdinger of a track when it finally sees the light of day.
Smith told Xfm "I like intriguing people with the names, but I don't know what people are going to make of these [new] ones. They sound quite different... there's a funny groove to them.
"'Tanned' has a lurching groove to it", he continued, "like The Fall. And 'Questing' has a head-noddy groove! It's quite an uplifting song, whereas 'Tanned' is quite dark but also has this big lift in it."
As to when we might be able to sample the band's third album Smith explained "I don't want to get trapped into the whole schedule thing, it becomes far too business like.
"But saying that we're working every day on the songs and personally I'd like to get the songs out January or February next year which would mean recording this Autumn and I don't see why we cant."
The music extravaganza was set up to raise money for a charity close to Maximo Park's hearts, The Royal Marsden Hospital and The No Surrender Charitable Trust which was set up by a close friend suffering from pancreatic cancer.

Lovely interview,I like Liliana's interviewing technique,
she just asked sensible questions - makes a change from the usual arrogant interviewers.
Paul was as charming as usual,he's so unspoilt by fame.
