Elbow: "Everyone's A Winner, Baby!"
Xfm spoke to Elbow ahead of tonight's Mercury Prize to find out how they were feeling about their nomination and what it would be like to take home the award.
Xfm spoke to Guy Garvey and Pete Turner of Elbow at Grosvenor House just before their soundcheck for The Mercury Awards taking place tonight.
Both band members seemed relaxed about the nomination and just happy to be considered as Guy explained:
"I genuinely am just very excited that we're on the list. Obviously it'd be great to win, it would be the finshing touch to a great year."
"I can't see past us actually playing and just sort of being there with friends. It be great if we did win but I've not really thought about actually that happening." Pete also commented.
The band will be playing just one song at tonight's ceremony which Guy seemed quite happy about:
"It should be pretty easy, we're only playing one song so we don't have to stay that sober!"
Elbow also praised the other artist's on the Nomination List and told Xfm who they would like to see win if they didn't get the prize themselves:
"There's so many good records on the list. I'd be really happy if Laura Marling, Rachel Unthank, Radiohead, British Sea Power, The Last Shadow Puppets, Neon Neon...everybody's a winner baby!"
