Dr Pepper In Exchage For Chinese Democracy

The makers of fizzy drink Dr Pepper have offered every person in America a free can of their - ahem - uniquely flavoured beverage if Guns N'Roses get round to releasing their new album, 'Chinese Democracy' this year.

In a piece of supreme PR puff, the fabulously named Dr Peppers Head Of Marketing Jaxie Alt said: "It took a little patience to perfect Dr Pepper's special mix of 23 ingredients, which our fans have come to know and love.

"So we completely understand and empathize with [GN'R head honcho Axl [Rose]'s quest for perfection - for something more than the average album.

"We know once it's released, people will refer to it as 'Dr Pepper for the ears' because it will be such a refreshing blend of rich, bold sounds - an instant classic."

Quite.

Axl Rose, meanwhile, responded on his website by saying he "surprised and very happy to have the support of Dr Pepper" but this shouldn't be taken as a sign that the new album will emerge any time this year.

'Chinese Democracy', should it ever emerge, will be the first collection of new material since 1991 'Use Your Illusion I' and 'Use Your Illusion II' double sets.

Axl Rose has reportedly spent $13 million recording the new album while managing to estrange the members who made Guns N'Rose one of the biggest bands on the planet.

'Chinese Democracy' was mooted to have been released this month but has since discreetly vanished from the release schedules.

As recent footage from Tibet has shown, there's more chance of democracy taking over China than there is 'Chinese Democracy' appearing any time soon.
