Dirty Pretty Things Split

Carl Barat’s post-Libs venture grounds to a halt as band members move on to pursue other projects.
Dirty Pretty Things have split up and have announced that band members Carl Barrat, Didz Hammond, Gary Powell and Anthony Rossomando will be pursuing separate musical projects in the future. Pete Doherty, however, does not look like he’ll be getting a call as, in a statement, the band have said:
"It is with some sadness we announce the farewell of the Dirty Pretty Things. It's been a glorious three years which we all would gladly live out again, but it is time for us to try new things. (not The Libertines)”
This month's tour is still set to go ahead as the band plan a rousing final farewell.
"We are reluctant to give up touring but will give the last waltz everything. We have and are determined to go out as we came in, after which we all have other ventures to be getting on with and splendid future plans”
"Heartfelt thanks to all who made it what it was, much love and we'll see you on the road."
You can re-live all of DPT’s glorious Xfm moments – sessions, interviews, news – right here.
So what do you think? Has it been a long time coming or a shock to the system? Will Carl get the Libs back? Or has he genuinely deleted Pete's number from his phone. Let us know...

This is most shocking news; well, shocking in that it begs the question: "Why didn't this happen sooner?" Dirty Pretty Things were without a doubt one of the most tuneless and talentless no-marks to have a conned the more gullible members of a generation. If it wasn't for the Libertines connection, only the hard of hearing would have approved of their scratchy offerings.
So now they're off to pursue other projects then? I look forward to telling Didz that yes, I would like extra fries with that, Barat to put a bit more gumption into shining my shoes while Antony gets back to loading other people's gear while Gary can finally learn how to tune his drums and keep a consistent beat.
You'll have all forgotten about them by this time next year. Sorry, who were we talking about again? -
Carl Barrat should have gone solo after the Libs and should go solo now.

Fantastic band, even if thier frontman was born in Basingtoke.
latest album, although good, did sound a bit like they were going through the motions especially compared with the energy of waterloo to anywhere, so them splitting up isnt much of a surprise really.
would love an almighty musical mash up of a third album from The Libs but if Didz and co are off doing other things then all we can hope for are some surprise live performances and a few live session recordings being released.
Fortunately for us, people like Barat dont tend to fade into obscurity.
