added 05 May 2008 at 12.51

Courtney Love checked herself into an LA hospital in the early hours of Friday morning, after complaining of throat and chest pains...

The former Mrs Kurt Cobain visited the Cedars Sinai hospital at around 3amon Friday May 2, but didn’t stay long. Love’s spokesperson confirmed to US gossip site TMZ.com that the singer was diagnosed with “strep throat”, a condition that usually requires nothing more than a course of antibiotics.

Onlookers reported that on leaving the hospital, Love stopped off at a gas station to buy cigarettes. That’s not going to do her poorly throat much good, is it?
