Coldplay Top Billboard 100
Coldplay have slam dunked their first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (America's chart bible) with their latest single 'Viva La Vida'. Could this be a sign of what's to come this Sunday on the UK charts?
Coldplay's pole position was secured by digital sales of over 246,000 copies of the title track from their fourth album 'Viva La Vida or Death Amongst Friends'
Its the first time Chris Martin and co. have tipped the Billboard scales and scored a U.S. number one.
As for these waters, Coldplay have placed top of the album charts in the past (and continue to do so with their current record) but have never hit the top spot in the UK single charts.
All that could be about to change this Sunday (June 22) when the top 40 UK singles are announced.
What's more impressive is that the track still hasn't appeared physically in any shops yet with their healthy position generated purely through downloads.
