Coldplay announce free download of new single!

In an act of supreme generosity, not only will Coldplay be giving away their new single but they'll also play two free gigs. 'Violet Hill' will be available for download for one week only from 12.15pm today (April 30).

'Violet Hill', Coldplay’s first single from the new album 'Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends' will be available as a free download for one week starting today April 29 at 12.15pm. At the same time, the single will be played for the first time on Xfm and will simultaneously be available free to download, a week ahead of its general digital release, which will be paid-for from May 6. Log on to www.Xfm.co.uk today after 12 noon for full details of how to download the song!

At the same time, Coldplay's website will have preliminary details of two free shows that the band will play, one at Brixton Academy on June 16 and the other at New York's Madison Square Garden on June 23.

Fans are advised to check www.coldplay.com for details of how to win tickets and not to contact the venues.

Meanwhile, the release of Coldplay’s new album 'Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends' has been brought forward four days in the UK to bring it into line with global release dates. The release date is now June 12. The album comprises ten brand new tracks produced by Brian Eno and Markus Dravs.
