Brian Wilson To Produce New Maximo Park Album?

Flakey Beach Boys man could be the answer to Paul Smith's prayers...

Maximo Park have almost finished writing their third album and Paul Smith already has a producer in mind - Brian Wilson. The singer claims that the legendary Beach Boy, who's had troubles with mental health since a well-publicised breakdown in the mid-1960s and took 40 years to finish his infamous 'Smile' album, could be in the frame for the knob-twiddling job.

"We're off on tour this week, so when we get back we'll attempt to find a producer and a studio," Smith told The Daily Star. "We'd like to push some sonic boundaries - maybe Brian Wilson's free."

When pressed on what we should expect from the follow-up to last year's 'Our Earthly Pleasures', Smith explained. "I don't know what kind of music you’d call it. The songs were intended to be high-calibre pop, that's all I know."

The new album is expected to arrive early next year.
