30 Seconds To Mars 'From Yesterday'
[watch the video]
More Hollywood Blockbuster than music video, Bartholemew Cubbins' (aka frontman Jared Leto) direction has the Mars boys summoned by the child-emperor of China who apparently chooses an audience with 30 Seconds To Mars over ‘the fire from the sun’ and ‘the ice from the stars’. As a result, the band are miraculously transported to Medieval China (the video was purportedly the first ever American rock video to be filmed entirely in China) and the Imperial Palace, where there’s more Samurai sword-wielding and unexplained visual metaphor than actual music. Having said that, the finished article is visually stunning and well worth a watch. If you’ve ever seen any Akira Kurosawa movies, you’ll be pleasantly reminded of that genius’ work, if a little put off by the cheesy lines delivered by frontman Leto. Pretentious tripe or cinematic perfection? Watch it and make up your own mind…

Laura Marling 'Ghosts'
In Marling's new video, cardboard skeletons dance like puppets in a colourful, animated graveyard. Simple, right? Well no actually, it's packed full of significances, owing to the fact that it's a song about two young lovers haunted by their memories of lost love. That's all well and good, but why the 'Bohemian-Rhapsody'esque moment of head’s floating in darkness? Maybe Laura’s a fan.

The Wombats 'Moving To New York'
Focussing less on the 'move to New York' and more on what led to it, the video has head Wombat, Murph going slowly mental in a dead-end office job where the office hamster starts talking to him, the walls move in and out, and the rest of the bands' floating heads appear at various intervals. Crazy times.
Cat The Dog 'Gotta Leave'
It's your classic gig in a grotty basement setup in this video. Shots of the band playing, intersected by seemingly irrelevant shots of some girl walking the streets with purpose. But it all makes sense in the end and everyone has a nice, well-mannered mosh in the basement. Nothing ground-breaking, but does it have to be?

The Little Ones 'Ordinary Song'
I know what you're thinking: 'Ordinary Song', ordinary video. OK, maybe you're not thinking that. Either way, the video's not ordinary. Featuring constantly changing scenes on a revolving studio set it's intriguing and quirky. Check it out to see what we're on about. 'Ordinary Song' is the first single from the Little Ones' forthcoming album, 'Morning Tide'.

Operator Please 'Get What You Want'
New single from Operator Please has the Aussie kids shoutin and rockin' out in a basement, alone. Lead Operator Amandah shouts into a megaphone while the others jump around conservatively. It's a hoot.

Operahouse 'Born a Boy'
The new single from recently-signed Camden four-piece Operahouse bodes well for their future. The video is short and sweet but manages to showcase their technical ability and song-making skill. Make sure you catch them live before they get too big.

British Sea Power 'Waving Flags'
Come on, you didn't expect the new British Sea Power video to be entirely normal and boring did you? Taken from their new album Do You Like Rock Music? 'Waving Flags' is classic British Sea Power so if you don't like the band, you won't like this. The video involves flags, the sea and men in a variety of different body suits. All of which suits the band down to a tee.

Pendulum 'Granite'
Almost as if dreamt up as piece of propaganda, Pendulum's new video cuts together clip after clip of 'genuine' footage of aliens on Earth, complete with clips from new bulletins and extra-terrestrially interrupted family videos. There's long been a link between the world's leading hip-hop and drum & bass DJs and a belief in aliens, and this new single is certainly a nod at this trend. The problem is that the video never feels like it has any attachment to the song. Anyway, take a look and decide for yourselves...
