Beatles Rock Band Game Announced

The Fabulous Four are issuing their own version of the hugely popular video game.

The Beatles have announced that they are to release their own edition of Rock Band. The Fab FOur's company Apple Corps have allowed games producers MTV and Harmonix to use classic tracks from the band's entire back catalogue in a game due out sometime next year. “This game will take you on a journey from the Beatles' first album 'Please Please Me' until the last album, 'Abbey Road',” said Apple boss Jeff Jones.

"The project is a fun idea which broadens the appeal of The Beatles and their music," said Sir Paul McCartney, who was no doubt hoisting that famous thumb aloft at the time. "I like people having the opportunity to get to know the music from the inside out."

Top celebrity malcontent Ringo Starr added, "How wonderful that The Beatles' legacy will find its natural progression into the 21st century through the computerised world we live in. Let the games commence."

  1. Bring on the Quo!, they have the career there to make a game interesting, starting with the 60s Matchstick men era, going through to the 70s Jeans phase, through to the slightly cleaned up image through to the Quo we have now, also theres alot more tracks out there than Rocking all over the world, they have a MASSIVE catalogue of tracks that could be used, Please do it!

  2. Wouldn't it be cool if you started off with no music at all but you could download every track ever made, or just the ones you wanted for free. That or you could buy the game cheaper than other Rock Bands/Guitar Heros and then pay like one pound for the music for each band.

But liek the other guy said:

Have to have green day, and radiohead. The Killers are getting pretty big nowadays...

Maybe a Killers, Snow Patrol, Green Day mix please!

  3. I agree replica instruments would be a great idea for this one.

You also have to consider that Let It Be was essentially unreleased material. Beside stuff like "I Me Mine," it's correct to place Abbey Road at the end in a recording chronology.

I just might get this one!

  4. This should be fun! Except someone should tell Mr. Jones that Let It Be was actually the Beatles last album....

  5. I hope this game comes with a Paul McCartney replica guitar and a Ringo moustache.

  6. I reckon The Who's back catalogue would make a great game.
Other ideas: U2, Green Day, Muse, Radiohead, but I think the best thing is just to let us download virtually any song we like so that we can pretty much dreate our own personalised rock band game so that we don't have to play stuff we don't like just to unlock some of the better songs that come with the game. I have a Wii and that's just not possible at the moment. Here's keeping my fingers crossed for an improvement when Rock Band 2 comes out over here.
