Bargain Basement Coldplay

added 07 May 2008 at 17.22

As if 2 million free downloads of their new single, 'Violet Hill', weren't enough, Coldplay have devised a cunning buy-one-get-one-free strategy for their new album. Two for the price of one? Surely it's too good to be true?

Well, it is but only if you're planning on buying the CD edition. For those fans who chose to download the new album, 'Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends', Coldplay have made an offer that will be difficult to refuse.

When fans download one track from the new album they will automatically be offered another track free-of-charge.

Explaining the logic behind the offer, singer Chris Martin said: "Buy one get one free, it comes from working in Kwik Save, I think.

"As I said before nobody buys albums any more, certainly nobody buys full albums and we've made an album that you have to have from start to finish."

'Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends' is released on June 12.

  1. omg. leave them alone. for god's sake, chris gets shafted for being a nerd, and then he gets it up the *&% from another nerd. the world's going digital...you know, records were fun too but in this day of porsche bonuses i think asking for freebies ain't gonna happen...yeah?

  2. Thanks a bunch Chris. I actually like your new single (you've noticed that guitars can actually be plugged into amplifiers and sound 10 times better) and was going to buy your cd. Do I get anything as a bonus for that? Extra tracks? Unlockable content as in 90s "enhanced cds"? Thought not. As someone who far prefers to have an actual cd, something to go to a shop and buy, something tangible that I can hold and put on a shelf with the rest of my cds, I'm getting shafted. Thanks again.
