Axl Speaks!

The Guns N’ Roses frontman breaks his silence in webchats to spill the beans on the keeping the name, China and a ‘Chinese Democracy’ version of Rock Band.
Axl Rose, Guns N’ Roses frontman, has finally gone public on ‘Chinese Democracy’. Rose answered a number of fan questions on MyGNR.com and heretodaygonetohell.com. Among the topics discussed were the singer’s legal entitlement to the name, the furor in China over ‘Chinese Democracy’’s release.
On missing the original line-up, Rose replied:
"I miss the illusion we shared for only a few months, if that, of thinking we were in this together. It wasn't real, or if so, only ever so briefly while deeper currents of ambitions were temporarily put aside, but I didn't know that then".
On keeping the name in spite of being the only original member:
"I didn't make a solo record. A solo record would be completely different than this and probably much more instrumental. I made a GUNS record with the right people who were the only people who really wanted to help me try, were qualified and capable while enduring the public abuse for years.
“I don't feel any reason whatsoever I should have to throw what I've not only worked for but fought and suffered for away because some hurt, angry, betrayed, misguided and lied to people with a lynch-mob mentality, joined by others who could care less (especially in the media), enjoying the controversy and hate, choose one over the other regardless of what's right because they want what they want.”
On China’s reaction to ‘Chinese Democracy’:
“China's a tough place. A lot of us have no idea how good we have it and think less of those less fortunate. The Chinese people have been kept in the dark through literally the fear of incarceration or death, which, to most, is either unimaginable or only able to be contemplated with stories or movies and such where there is an all-encompassing environment and they're growing larger everyday.”
On a Rock Band version of ‘Chinese Democracy’:
“I think that's a yes on Rock Band.”
