X-clusive: Mark Ronson For James Bond Theme?

added 02 July 2007 at 11.13

Mark Ronson spoke exclusively to Xfm and revealed he'd love to produce the Amy Winehouse's rumoured James Bond theme song, a Mighty Boosh album and work with The Charlatans.

Ronson may be at the top of his game right now, producing leading UK artists Lily Allen and Amy Winehouse, touring with his band playing all the best festivals, DJing the top clubs and running his own label - Allido Records.

But, as Ronson revealed to Xfm in an exclusive interview, there's still one ambition he has yet to fulfill, to contribute to a James Bond film.

"It's my dream to produce a song for a James Bond film so I told Amy [Winehouse] that if she gets offered the Bond thing [as has been recently rumoured] then she'd better let me produce the song, or I'll never talk to her again."

And someone else who he'd like to work with is childhood hero Tim Burgess' band The Charlatans. Having been joined on stage by Burgess during his Glastonbury set for their cover of The Charlatans 'The Only One I Know'  Ronson was excited about the prospect of working with him more in the future.

"I'd love to work with him some more. Not a cover though, something original. I saw The Charlatans first show when I was thirteen in New York and I was just such a huge fan of their stuff growing up and I couldn't believe we were on stage together at Glastonbury.

"Those are the kind of legends that when you're a kid you're too nervous to work with because you're like 'They're up there, and I'm down here'. But yeah, definitely, I'd love to work with someone like Tim Burgess."

But, as Ronson revealed, it's not just musical legends he is eager to work with more. He is also a huge fan of brilliant cult comedy series 'The Mighty Boosh' and reckons he could do something special with the musical tracks included in previous series.

"One of my favourite comedy shows is 'The Mighty Boosh', he explained, 'and I had the pleasure of meeting one of the stars Noel Fielding stumbling off a muddy bus from Glastonbury.

And there's a song from one of the shows - it's only four seconds love so they'd have to write more lyrics for it - but it's called 'Captain Cabinet' and basically it just goes;

"Captain Cabinet, Trapped in a cabinet, Can he get out? Will he get out? Course he will.

"And it could be brilliant", he continued. "I could turn it into musical gold. There's some other good songs from 'The Mighty Boosh' I could work with, they're obviously quite musical people. "

As for whether he would consider doing a screen debut with a cameo in the forthcoming third Boosh series, which is currently being filmed, Ronson replied,

"Yeah, why not. I'm probably a sh*t actor, but it doesn't matter. You'd embarrass yourself just to be on something like that so when you buy the DVD you can point to yourself on the screen."
