X-clusive: Kate Nash To Save Camden Market?

added 08 August 2007 at 11.54

Kate Nash is joining the fight to save Camden's Stables Market with a 'secret' gig at Boogaloo tomorrow night (Thursday August 9).

The North London singer - who is currently at number one with her debut album - is set to play alongside Graham Coxon and DJs Team Disgusting alongside a whole host of other as-yet-undisclosed acts.

The evening is intended as a protest at the plans of fat cat developers to turn the legendary and charasmatic Stables Market, steeped in musical history and character, into yet another soulless commercial shopping centre.

Proud Galleries - which is located within the Stables Market and plays host to numerous high profile exhibitions and live music events - has already announced it's intentions to relocate this October to a nearby location, although it was not made clear whether this was related to development plans.

Earlier this week Coxon weighed into the debate stating that "[The planned development] is a pathetic attempt at modernisation. What's going to be in it? More Starbucks coffee houses and Carphone Warehouses?

"It should be full of tailors, shoemakers, cheesemakers and independent shops, but of course they are not going to do that."

Tickets for the show will be extremely limited with more details to follow.
