X-clusive: Editors On New Material

Editors speak exclusively to Xfm about their new record, possible singles, and why Kings Of Leon have been giving them itchy feet.

Turning first to plans for a new album, frontman Tom Smith was excited about the new material they've been busy working on,

"Sounds good, sound big", Tom revealed, "I think its got some of our biggest moment but also some of our most intimate, smallest things we've ever done at the same time. So yeah, big songs." [listen here]

And it won't be too long until we get to judge it for ourselves, with a single and album release likely in the next couple of months

"We just finished our record", Tom explained,  "When's it coming out? July, early July i think. First single June maybe so we start mixing that, its all done, its all sounding good and we're all happy." [listen here]

As for the title of the first single, the Editors have manage to narrow it down to one of two options.

"Its between two songs which one its gonna be", Tom continued, "So we'll see... 'The Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors' or 'End Has A Start'." [listen here]

But with all the time spent in the studio the band were clearly itchy to get back on the road, and it seems Kings Of Leon, who play an exclusive Xfm session on April 11 have been spurning them on. [Win tickets here]

"Since we've finished i've had twitchy feet going out to see bands play. Seing bands play again now like, I saw Kings of Leon the other night and i was just like 'Oh my...'. All of us i think just wanna get on stage again." [listen here]

Editors are set to play at London's Roundhouse on May 23 followed by a series of UK dates and festivals, including  Glastonbury, taking place from June 22 to June 24 .
