V Festival: Winehouse Out, Happy Mondays In.

Happy Mondays are to replace Amy Winehouse at the V Festival this weekend after the ailing star pulled out of all commintments for the next month to address her problems.

Amy Winehouse - who was very publicly hospitalised after a suspected drug overdose last week - has officially pulled out of all touring commitments, including V Festival, for the next month.

She is the latest act to pull out of this weekend's festival after The Bravery and Bright Eyes were also forced to cancel their slots.

An official statement reads,

"Amy Winehouse is putting all her touring commitments for this month on hold until further notice in order to address her health issues. Amy will now not be performing at this weekend's V Festival in Chelmsford and Staffordshire. Her family has requested that the media respect Amy's privacy at this time. There will be no further comment."

The 23 year old singer and her husband Blake Fielder-Civil entered rehab on Tuesday but left after just 24 hours.

Last night the couple were followed by over 30 photographers as they visited three of their regular Camden drinking haunts.

Speaking to BBC Newsbeat reporters, Fielder-Civil gave assurances that they would both return to rehab the following day explaining "We only came back to get a guitar, but of course in the paper that's interpreted that me and Amy are both so weak we left after three days."

Asked whether the reports of her drug abuse were true the 'Rehab' singer responded "I wouldn't say so, no", with her husband adding "I would say there are a few problems there, but certainly not the magnitude that my mum was falsely quoted as saying."

Festival organiser Simon Moran responded to the news saying, "We're very sorry to hear that Amy is unable to perform this weekend and wish her all the best.

"We hope that fans will not be too disappointed by the news and we would gladly welcome her to play V Festival 2008."

Luckily for organisers Happy Mondays have agreed to step in at the last minute and fill in Winehouse's slots on the Channel 4 Stage at the Chelmsford site on Saturday and the Staffordshire site on Sunday, alongside headline acts The Killers and Foo Fighters.

The Mercury nominated singer - who has already pulled out of two Rolling Stones gigs in Germany - is due to head off on her US tour in September before returning to Europe in October.
