Prince To Play London Residency

Following a press conference in London yesterday, Prince has announced that he plans to play a huge 21 date residency in London, kicking off on August 1 at the O2 Arena. Hear him at the press conference right here.
The singer is to play the series of gigs – his first arena dates in the UK in more than a decade - under the banner of 'The Purple Reign Tour'.
The 21-dates will kick off on August 1 at the O2 Arena in London, but go on to included a further seven shows at the venue on 3, 4, 7, 10, 11 and 14. Details of the remaining gigs will be announced shortly.
It was also announced that the concerts would be his only performances of 2007 and would be the last chance for fans to hear his greatest hits live. Speaking at the press conference he explained,
"Last time I was here a lot of people didn't get to see me, so we're trying to make it affordable for everybody. I got used to this way of working in Las Vegas. As soon as I leave here, I'm going to go and look for a place to live"
He then added: "I really like Earl's Court , but I can't live there." Which proves that he hasn’t lost all of his marbles, just yet.
Prince also issued an open invitation to Amy Winehouse to join him on the tour, to perform a version of her track 'Love Is A Losing Game'.
Tickets for the shows will be going on sale at 9am on Friday May 11 and will have a flat-rate price of £31.21, and every ticket purchaser receive his a free copy of his new album, called ‘3121’ (see what he did there?)
