Manic Street Preachers Honoured

Following in the footsteps of The Clash, New Order and Primal Scream, Manic Street Preachers are to receive NME's Godlike Genius Award.
The award is in recognition of the band's "unique and innovative career in music."
Speaking of the award, bassist and lyricist Nicky Wire said: "Well, I've got to say, when our manager told us about it, I just genuinely felt humbled and excited.
"We've won four Brit Awards, Ivor Novellos, but it's vindication. It feels like the best one because the NME is what I grew up with and for all its faults it still means a lot to me. It's so fucking brilliant, honestly. It's really made me feel fantastic."
Not only will Manic Street Preachers receive the award at the InigO2 in London on February 28 but the band will also headline a special awards 'Big Gig'. The show will be staged at the O2 Arena next door and will also feature Bloc Party, Klaxons and The Cribs.
