London-based three-piece Klaxons released their debut album 'Myths and the Near Future' on Polydor Records in January 2007. Produced by James Ford, it reached number two in the UK chart on release and features the hit singles 'Golden Skans' and 'Its Not Over Yet'.

"Rock meets pop meets dance. Klaxons take us on an ecstatic musical adventure." The Judging Panel

Current odds of winning (as reported by William Hill on August 30): 7/1

Xfm caught up with Klaxons (whatever you do don't call them 'The Klaxons') backstage at the Reading Festival, and the band were feeling quietly confident about the forthcoming Mercury Prize, or as they describe it, "The prize for people who actually like music".
