Killers Record New Track With Lou Reed

The Killers have been working with legendary Velvet Underground frontman Lou Reed on a new track for the Vegas rockers' forthcoming third album.
The track entitled 'Tranquilize' features Reed duetting with the Mormon rocker's frontman Brandon Flowers who commented,
"We were thrilled with being able to work with Lou Reed. The song was calling for a duet and his voice was just right. The sentiment of the song is very him. It's one of our more depressing songs."
The new song is set to feature on The Killer's forthcoming rarities album due out by the end of the year.
As well as the Reed duet - which was recorded in New York with producers Flood and Alan Moulder - the album will include two film soundtrack songs (from Spiderman 3 and Closer) as well as a whole host of B-sides from their European singles.
Flowers told Billboard,
"In England we have a lot of B-sides that people in America would never know about because we don't have singles here. So we have about 15 of these songs that people have never heard, and we wanted to stick them on something for people to get to have them all together."
A tentative tracklisting includes 'All the Pretty Faces' ('When You Were Young' B-side), 'Shadowplay' (a Joy Division cover from Anton Corbijn's Ian Curtis biopic Control), 'Move Away' (Spider-man 3), and a cover of Mel Tillis' 'Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town'.
Elsewhere the band are planning to put out a new single entitled 'Don't Shoot Me Santa' for the Red Campaign after their track last year 'A Great Big Sled' raised over $100,000 for the AIDS charity.
