Blur Reunion To Finally Take Place?

added 07 June 2007 at 11.30

Blur members Alex James and Dave Rowntree have added to ever-growing rumours that Blur will reunite to record again this year.

Speaking to The Independent - in response to a tabloid piece reporting that the band would start work on a new album this November - drummer Dave Rowntree confirmed,

"We will spend one week recording and see what happens. We're dipping our toes in the water. We have not made any decision but we'll see how we feel and if the spark is there.

Rountree wouldn’t confirm if estranged guitarist Graham Coxon – who parted company with the band during sessions for the album ‘Think Tank’ in 2003 – would be involved, but tabloid reports are claming the entire band will be involved in the recording sessions this winter.

However, bassist Alex James seemed to suggest they were all open to the idea, saying,

"I do sincerely hope [there's a full reunion]" he admitted, "But there's no point in doing it unless all of us want to because that was what was so good about it.

"I'm hoping that it'll happen", he continued "But there's nothing set in stone".

Each of the members have been busy with their own solo projects in recent years, with Damon Albarn working on Gorillaz and The Good, The Bad And The Queen, Rowntree getting involved in local politics and James making cheese and farming.

Most recently Damon Albarn has been working on a circus opera "Monkey: Journey To The West" which opens at the Manchester International Festival at the end of the month.
