X-clusive: James Brown “The World Needs Michael Jackson”

The Godfather of Soul, funk legend James Brown has been speaking to Xfm in a UK radio exclusive about what people can expect on his upcoming UK tour dates, and expresses his support for the recently freed Michael Jackson.
Mr Brown endured a (successful) operation for prostate cancer a mere six months ago, but after only three weeks recovery he recommenced his Seven Decades Of Funk World Tour (“I just enjoy what I’m doing” is all he’ll say when
asked how he keeps up his hectic live schedule) and returns to the UK tp play this month.
“I’m looking forward to it,” he explained to Xfm, “I’m looking forward to the whole situation. I enjoy playing in the UK, it's one of my favourite places to play. I enjoyed myself [last time he appeared here at Glastonbury 2004] and I just wanna bring back the consciousness of love and make people realise they’ve got to love each other, then there won’t be so much war.”
As for what people will hear from The Minister Of New New Super Heavy Funk when he takes the stage for the first dates of his tour at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall on Thursday (June 23), it’s business as usual.
“What you can expect is a lot of heart, music, good funk and an even more dynamic show than before." he continued, "We’re really gonna get a load of dynamics and perform some miraculous things on stage.”
“I just want everyone to love each other and have a lot of fun and when I get there we’ll have a great celebration… of funk.”
As for Michael Jackson’s recent acquittal, Brown also expressed his happiness that the troubled fellow singer was proven innocent and released from jail.
“Well, I’m very happy because of the fact that the world needs Michael and a lot of people would really love to see him play. He always creates such excitement and it’s good to have that gentleman there for the people, so they can hear him and enjoy themselves. I’m very glad Michael is out.”
James Brown’s full UK tour and festival dates are:

- The Sage, Gateshead (24)
- Forum, London (26)
