X-clusive: Embrace Complete 'Exploding Machines'

added 08 November 2005 at 09.46

Clearly not interested in waiting for more hand-outs from Chris Martin, Embrace spoke to Xfm's brand new Breakfast Show host Lauren Laverne and revealed their new record ‘Exploding Machines’ is in the can.

If your seemingly on-the-rocks career suddenly takes a turn for the triumphant, you don't sit on your laurels. Danny McNamara and his band of indie survivors know this, which may explain why the band haven't hung around, with work on the follow-up to 2004's comeback, 'Out Of Nothing', a B-sides and rarities package and a live DVD of anthemic air-punching all on the way.

Speaking to Lauren this morning (November 8), Embrace sticksman Mike Heaton explained the band's new record, titled 'Exploding Machines', is all but ready for public consumption:

“The new album’s recorded and it’s being mixed," Heaton explained, "The rest of the band are down in London finishing mixing it. And we’ll be definitely playing some of the new stuff [on the tour] in December. We’ll play a few warm-up dates and some of the new tracks and see which ones fit best, and then we’ll play those at the arena dates."

Speaking about the band's pair of homecoming gigs, immoratlised on the live DVD, the drummer revealed the band couldn't believe they were playing a venue as big as the Millenium Square in Leeds.

“It was an amazing homecoming thing for us in the Millennium Square. We couldn’t believe it when our manager said ‘This is where you’ll be playing’... And then both nights sold out in a couple of days!"

The band were in London last night (November 7) to mark the release of the DVD and the recent B-Sides compilation, 'Dry Kids 1997-2005', with a special in-store signing session.
