The New Chemical Romantics

Marginally unhigned American nu-punks My Chemical Romance hit Music: Response to play live from their major-label debut and discuss an unusually broad raft of influences. Hear the session and interview right here.

Formed, out of frustration with crappy day jobs, amid the grime of New Jersey, My Chemical Romance are one of the more innovative travellers on America's crowded emo highway. With their major label debut 'Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge' adding a vicious, vindictive edge to the spiky guitars (no whining over girlfriends that won't return their calls for MCR) frontman Gerard Way and co. are winning plenty of fans this side of the pond.

Hitting Music: Response in good temper, My Chemical Romance discussed Gerard's 'Missing In Action'/finding himself episode, the inspiration of Garth Ennis' graphic novel masterwork 'Preacher' and explained why they're so strongly influenced by Britpop. [listen]

My Chemical Romance 'You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison' [Dial-Up] [Broadband]
A typically convoluted title and MCR are away, pushing their snarling, chugging riffage to the limit while Way seemingly has an extremely vocal nervous breakdown.

My Chemical Romance 'I'm Not Okay (I Promise)' [Dial-Up] [Broadband]
New single and so deservedly so - this throat shredding anthem reaches Good Charlotte-esque levels of sheer infectiousness, just without, y'know, making you want to eat your own fingers.
