Snow Patrol New Album Nearly Complete

Snow Patrol singer Gary Lightbody has revealed that the sessions for the new Snow Patrol are progressing well, and is both “bigger and bolder” and simultaneously more “fragile” than its predecessor.

The band have been hard at work on the follow up to their Number 1 2004 album ‘Final Straw’ for three weeks now, and Lightbody has posted a message on the bands official website message board updating fans on the record's progress.

“Things are going great,” he explained, “we've completed (minus vocals which we'll do at the end) eight songs and they're sounding great (I'll put the trumpet away now). Most of the titles will change as I’m still tinkering with lyrics so to give you song names now would just be confusing.

“One that hasn't changed is ‘Chasing Cars’ which we played on our last US tour and the shows we did with u2 and in Ireland, so some of you may know it.

The singer also went on to explain that, as previously rumoured, the new album is more extreme than ‘Final Straw’ (in both ways).

“It’s sounding pretty big,” he confesses, “The whole thing is bigger and bolder except the quiet ones which are as fragile as sugar paper. Garret's [producer Garret Lee] doing an amazing job and we're as focused as we've ever been.

Paul [Wilson]'s bass is terrifying (in a good way) and Jonny [Quinn]'s drums; well we don't call him thunderclap for nothing. Or at all. But if we did it'd be appropriate.”

The new, as-yet-untitled album is expected to be released early in 2006 and will be accompanied by a series of love dates.
