Snow Patrol Fire Bandmember

A statement has been released announcing that Snow Patrol have split with their bassist of six years Mark McClelland – citing the pressures of their new found work load and success as the reason for the parting.
This new statement comes as something of a surprise, especially considering the band have existed in their original line up since forming back in 1997 and only recently found mainstream success after two virtually ignored albums (and various record deals).
However, a message posted on the band’s official website reads:
“Snow Patrol have parted company with bass player Mark McClelland. Following a life-changing year in 2004, Snow Patrol found themselves under a whole set of new and unexpected pressures. These pressures have unfortunately taken their toll on working relationships within the band, and it was felt that Snow Patrol could not move forward with Mark as a member.
”Coming to this decision was the hardest thing the remaining band members have ever faced, it was reached with much regret. The band have not appointed a new member, and are currently in rural Ireland writing the follow up to 'Final Straw'."
Whilst a replacement has not yet been announced that band will have to be quick in finding a new member as - as well as being rumoured to be playing at a host of UK festivals over the summer (including Glastonbury, T In The Park and V2005) - Snow Patrol will be supporting U2 on their 'Vertigo' tour in Brussels, Manchester, Berlin, Paris and Dublin.
