Roots Manuva, Basement Jaxx Play Tsunami Benefit

Organised by “Rhys Ifans, Samantha Morton and Friends”, the charity Save The Children is set to benefit from the proceeds of a charity club night on February 2 at London’s Astoria entitled ‘Children of The Tsunami'.

The night will feature some of the hottest dance acts around with live performances from, amongst others, the Roots Manuva Soundsytem and Nightmares On Wax, and DJ sets from an all-star line-up including Felix B of Basement Jaxx, Alison Goldfrapp, Andrew Weatherall, Erol Alkan and James Lavelle.

Speaking to The Metro last week, Ifans said “I've had to buy a mobile… because I'm organising an event with Samantha Morton
for Children of the Tsunami at the Astoria
on February 2. 

“Samantha is the spokesman. I'm just the dumb blond. I'm the Geri Halliwell to her UNICEF. But the phone is driving me up the wall. I had it on vibrate in my back pocket for the first couple of days and every time it rang I kept thinking: 'Oh my God, I'm having a movement.'
