MTV Ban ‘Violent Queen’ Basement Jaxx Video

Her Maj was never the most likely of Basement Jaxx fans, but it seems they may have fallen to the bottom of the New Year’s Honours list after their new video for ‘U Don’t Know Me’. MTV have banned the duo’s new video following scenes depicting an HRH lookalike drinking and fighting.

MTV have banned the clip from daytime rotation, after the video shows a lookalike of the Queen getting drunk, groping a lapdancer, fighting and evading police in London's Soho district.

Subsequently, the clip will only be shown after the station's 7pm watershed.

An MTV spokesperson said, "It's a great video, it's a great track and we plan on giving it heavy rotation in our evening schedules."

However, the video's director Mat Kirkby revealed that, "MTV said it would never get on daytime TV because if the scene where the Queen grabs a lapdancer's bum. But I don't understand why. They seemed happy with her drinking and being surrounded by drug dealers."

The single ‘U Don't Know Me’ is released on June 13 in time for the band's summer of festival appearances including a huge London show headlining the new O2 Wireless Festival on June 25. The four day event also features fellow headliners Keane, New Order and Kasabian.
