Mogwai Cancel Tonight's Glasgow Gig

added 08 June 2005 at 14.42

Mogwai have been forced to cancel their show at the ABC in Glasgow tonight (June 8) as their drummer Martin Bulloch has developed a severe case of tendonitis.

Alongside the sold-out ABC concert gig (arranged to celebrate the opening night of the venue) the Scottish five-piece have also been forced to cancel a date scheduled for St Petersburg this weekend as doctors have advised Bulloch to cancel all future gigs until his condition has improved. Despite this, a re-scheduled date for this gig is expected to be announced later on this week.

A statement from the band reads: "We are sad to announce that Martin has tendonitis and can't play either Glasgow or St Petersburg. We will be DJ'ing as well as Trout and Errors playing tomorrow night.

"A rescheduled date will be announced within the week. Anyone who can't make the rescheduled show can get a refund from point of purchase. Your tickets will be good for tonight and the rescheduled show. Apologies for the cancellations. Get well soon Martin."

Ticket holders can text 07766 404 142 to receive an SMS text alerts with info of the new gig date as soon as it's announced.

It is also understood that recording for the band's new album (the follow up to 2003's 'Happy Songs For Happy People') has also had to be postponed while Bulloch's condition improves.
