Lauren Meets The Chemical Brothers

Ahead of the release of The Chemical Brothers' newest collection of dancefloor anthems 'Push The Button', Lauren Laverne talked exclusively to Tom Rowland and Ed Simons. Hear the interview here.

The Chemical Brothers have been redefining the concept of Superstar DJs for a whole decade now, consistently at the cutting edge of dance music's upper echelons.

Along the way they've collaborated with some of the biggest names from every corner of the music industry, from Noel Gallagher to Wayne Coyne to Bernard Sumner and on record number seven they've cued up another impressive list of special guests, including Tim Burgess and Q-Tip. Lauren talked to Tom and Ed about all things Chemical and Brotherly.

On New Year's Eve, recording the new album and working with Q-Tip
"A friend of ours in New York knew someone who knew him and we'd written the song, we'd written the music and we could really hear his voice on it. So we got a CD to him, by various means, and spoke to him on the phone and it was like yeah, let's give it a go." [listen]

On playing Brixton and The Brit Awards controversial closure of the Dance Music category
"It seemed a funny thing for people to make an issue of, it doesn't really reflect the aims of people who make dance music. We win it one year and Fatboy wins it and the Prodigy wins it, it just seemed an ever-rotating circle of big dance acts. It didn't seem like it was going anywhere." [listen]
